Here are the people responsible for the nH Predict AI tool that they knew has a 90% error rate when denying claims:
Boomer trash are always there to grift
They got such eggshells egos too.
I shouldn’t still need to point this out but most boomers are poor. They also have a lot of medical issues and are mistreated by the health system and aged care. They are also mentally abused by cynical political strategists that target their fears and drive them half crazy.
If you haven’t noticed the wealth divide is increasing and the rich are getting further away from regular people. That is happening despite rich boomers dying. Their wealth is being inherited and their replacements are just as mean.
Anytime you see a divisive comment like old.people, immigrants, trans are at fault question the source and if it is worth repeating. Its possible a lot of such comments originate in enemies of free societies. Community is important. It’s the foundation for a fair and peaceful society. We can’t have community while we have this mindset of excluding the other.
There are also reasonably credible opinions that all of the things we divide ourselves on are deliberately propagated to distract us from the real power imbalance - all of us versus the incredibly wealthy. All of us against the corporations.
Generation anger especially is nuts. The older generation will die, their supposed enormous wealth will go to the generation below, and so on. Boomers had fewer children than the generation before, X have had even fewer. Generational wealth should be concentrating
I am not going to dispute this but top 10% are essentially all boomers and they sick owner dick with joy while selling out everyone.
The poor ones are retarded sure but they wanted for this shit.
Frankly, boomers are not allies and they need to be held accountable for their role here.
Any boomer with half a brain knows all of this anyway. I doubt I am hurting that persons feelings.
Also boomer is now mental state as many gen x sold out and rich boomer crotch fruit larp it. Quit being poor
You might as well start calling 20 year olds boomers because it is a class war and always has been a class war and always will be a class war and age is irrelevant. Any name that obscures that fact only helps perpetuate the divisions. Ageists are in the same category as racists, sexists and all other bigots. They contribute nothing to debate but name calling. Deal with the hate or direct it where it is deserved. Call these health insurance CEOs what they are. They are parasitic hoarders of wealth who profit from the misery of others. In fair societies we provide healthcare for all, young and old without these scum. Only a society that has its shit together can do something like that and you can’t get your shit together if all you do is call people names.
Pipe down everybody in that picture was a boomer…
You taking my statement out of context to have a melt down
Hmmm… these demographics are not surprising.
I can’t help but think of the scene from Rush Hour where Chris Tucker’s character explains to Jackie Chan’s character his theory on big crimes. It was something like ‘Follow the rich guy. There’s always a rich guy waiting for his slice.’ I gotta rewatch it now.
“We are sorry, the algorithm said you should die, soooooo….”
Nothing we can do, nobody at fault. This just how things are
I sort of see why UHC would go in this direction. Case law (as in understand it) around AI and algorithms is that they can’t be
blamedheld accountable on how they make decisions. Because they are black boxes, they are given a pass. When a human reviews and denies a claim, it can be scrutinized, making it possible for the human to be reviewed and discredited. And a human might even gasp approve a case.
When it’s AI, it can’t be reviewed. It can be blamed, but with no responsibility, it can’t be sued.
We really need more regulation around algorithms and AI or more shit like this is going to happen.
Edit: wording
But AI is a tool, it’s like saying you can’t sue the gun I shot you with so you just need to suck it up.
Well if our legal system gonna be like that, then parasitic executive culture will chimp out.
They used algos for fixing rent for a decade and are still doing. Government barely lift a finger to fix it and I bet we will keep getting fucked for another decade
This is just how the country is being ran… We need to accept it and go in opposition
Hold up, algorithms are just simple “if else” trees, nothing more and technically can easily be reviewed. AI is a black box where an apples to apples review is impossible.
Could people stop sharing this image of the guy who clearly was not the murderer?!
Seriously. I am almost 100% the guy in the picture was my waiter at the Boathouse restaurant, in Disney Springs (Florida), on the night of the shooting. The person in the picture was nowhere near the state of New York.
Muad’dib!
Here’s an article from last year to add a little more context.
UnitedHealth uses the algorithm to “prematurely and in bad faith discontinue payment for healthcare services,” the complaint said.
“This is an example of how AI is being utilized not to help people but to line the pockets of corporations and their shareholders,” Clarkson said.
When these coverage denials are appealed to federal administrative law judges, about 90% are reversed, the complaint said, demonstrating the “blatant inaccuracy” of the algorithm. Only a tiny fraction of patients appeal the denials at all, Clarkson said.
Also, UnitedHealth said they stopped using the algorithm, turns out they just renamed it and are now using it to deny or reduce mental health treatments. How UnitedHealth’s Playbook for Limiting Mental Health Coverage Puts Countless Americans’ Treatment at Risk
Ah, yes, creating more work for an already overloaded legal and healthcare system, while pocketing the profits from people who won’t fight it. Man, I LOVE capitalism…
So his decisions resulted in others deaths?
Insurance companies practice medicine without a license all the time and those practices result in death. We are just supposed to pretend that’s the correct way to live.
Totally unrelated question, but did Hitler actually directly kill anyone? Mao? Or was it just through their directing of others?
Well, Hitler did kill at least one person…
Sigh… Yea but he also killed the guy that killed hitler
How did he even manage to sleep knowing this was the job he did.
On piles of money, I’m sure.
dragons are a parable
With many beautiful ladies
Like that scene in Breaking Bad where Walt is laying on pallets of cash at the car wash.
Abstraction. These people are in such a different class compared to the average person that they basically don’t associate with them, so they never see the consequence of their downright evil actions… up until a scorned man with nothing to lose makes them very clear very quickly.
Do you cry everytime you step on a bug?
Personally? I don’t even kill bugs I find inside. They are taken outside. When my cat destroys the occasional lizard, I have to euthanize them rather than let them die slowly in pain or throwing them outside to die out of sight. I cry then usually.
I think a lot of CEOs aren’t capable of empathy, or have been so detached to human cost by the many layers of numbers and intermediaries between
Probably would if it shot me
Probably very easily. The people who make it to the top generally show more psychopathic tendencies.
I wonder what’s going to go through his familys minds when it all settles.
They got generational wealth out of it.
I wouldn’t worry about them… People Brian Thompson murdrr and their families didn’t get nothing.
Never forget
I’m not worrying about them, I’m just curious. For example, Do they feel any kind of remorse because they were impacted? I mean they didn’t before
From my experience no… They are mentally operating on a different plane and if they get clipped at some point, it was just cost of doing business.
Never remorse.
Imagine explaining to your kids why the internet is celebrating their father’s death

Sociopathy
The most defining trait of Sociopaths and Psychopaths is having no empathy, so for people like this the suffering of others, be it of their own making or not, has about as much emotional impact as the “suffering” of a leaf of lettuce when they eat it or of a piece of paper they crumple and thrown in the trashcan.
This also means that, amongst other things, they feel no guilt whatsoever (would you feel guilt from eating a leaf of lettuce?!) and will sleep like babies with the blood of thousands on their hands.
“Look, if we allow these claims then everyone sick will file claims. The hit on our profit margin would be terrible!”
You don’t understand. This man was a pillar of empathy and dedicated his life to improving access to healthcare.
Found the shareholder. /s
(Of his stockholders)*
Yup, I was in an AI/ML training session about a year ago, and there were a few hospital execs there too. They were absolutely giddy about the prospect of using AI to deny care to unprofitable patients.
So this must be all the “innovation” and “disruption” I keep hearing about.
The ai they use is also not intended to separate those who need care from those who don’t, instead the ai is meant to separate those who would successfully appeal against the decision from those who wouldn’t. This is how the UHC denial rate was able to shoot up so fast: from 10.9% in 2020 to 32% in 2023. There have to be a lot of excess deaths, personal bankruptcies and homelessness hiding behind that statistic.
There’s at least one chronic pain patient who allegedly took it out on one CEO, causing one excess death. It’ll be nuts if his jury nullifies his alleged crime
A computer program that returns “denied” in all situations is not an AI.
function DetermineClaim(input) { return "denied"; }
The next generation will have names like “assume your a junior computer programmer and write a python script to complete my homework“
Deposed. I would not use the m word. Its in the tos.
Yeah we don’t advocate murder around here!
What an all around nice guy.
Truly a shame he got unjustly murdered. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_murder
When one individual inflicts bodily injury upon another such that death results, we call the deed manslaughter; when the assailant knew in advance that the injury would be fatal, we call his deed murder. But when society places hundreds of proletarians in such a position that they inevitably meet a too early and an unnatural death, one which is quite as much a death by violence as that by the sword or bullet; when it deprives thousands of the necessaries of life, places them under conditions in which they cannot live – forces them, through the strong arm of the law, to remain in such conditions until that death ensues which is the inevitable consequence – knows that these thousands of victims must perish, and yet permits these conditions to remain, its deed is murder just as surely as the deed of the single individual
Ridiculously photogenic working class hero
now you know the real reason for ai existence. making more money for those that have too much
