The level disrespect the Americans are showing to the rest of the world - with the exception of Russia, of course - is astounding.

When the Australian pm tried to close a USA base. He as democratic elected pm got dismissed with the help of CIA involvement. To be fair Australia didn’t get a really bloody coup. But is sends out a message to your “friends”. Trump probably thinks it would be a act of war anyway and a legit reason to sell at home to invade.

The main argument against the annexation of Greenland right now is that Denmark is already letting the US do more or less what they want militarily. If Denmark pushes them out, they’ll have a much more legitimate reason to annex the island.

Plus it’s not really going to make a difference whether they have a base there or not if they decide to annex it, it’s not like Denmark is going to be able to mount any kind of opposition to US military.

So, something they can learn from the US. It’s fine to arrest someone upon landing, vanish them for a few weeks in horrid conditions, then send them home with shaved heads on a military plane.

I recommend they dry run it with this “delegation” .

Ms. Vance is scheduled to make a series of cultural stops after her arrival on Thursday, separate from Mr. Waltz. The national security adviser is supposed to be traveling earlier in the week with the U.S. energy secretary, Chris Wright.

First, don’t meet with them. Don’t give them a diplomatic escort, but maybe follow them around with a few troops in case you want to stop them going to certain places. Or don’t let them in at all.

I assume they plan to land at the US military base–I don’t know if that means they don’t have to ask permission to enter Greenland’s airspace and land? But depending on how much Denmark wants to scale up the tensions, they could either refuse them permission to land or let them land but refuse to let them exit the US base into Greenland’s territory.

Either way, start procedures to close the base and kick them out. They’ve given more than enough justification by threatening Greenland. Whether you really want to close the base or not, threaten to and then you can negotiate for some kind of payment to let the base stay. That’s what trump would do and what he would respond to. You have to stand up to a bully or they’ll never stop bullying you.

Just let people know where they will be. I expect the population to tell the Americans where to head.
