    That was during that weird period of the 24th century where the only two types of human music anyone listened to were classical and jazz.

    It didn’t last long, thankfully.

        Hey, I mostly listen to 30s and 40s jazz, but it was like rock didn’t exist on TNG, let alone something like rap or reggae.

          It’s a missed opportunity to not see Worf casually listening to rock/metal in his quarters.

          I guess they were thinking that classical and jazz seem a little more timeless?

            I think it was more likely a licensing issue. Most classical music and many jazz standards are public domain.

            I don’t know what Abrams’ company paid the Beastie Boys for the right to use Sabotage, but I guarantee you it wasn’t cheap.
