If you ban something on devices you own, and people can get around the ban, that’s a failure of your IT department, not the staff.
But also, fire those people for not following rules
Nah those people are useful, you normally have to pay for people to find workarounds, people that break the rules do it for free
Alaska airlines is asking Boeing for $150,000,000 because a mechanic “found a work around.” I’ll take my chances with process improvement methods instead.
Totally not the same thing 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Can someone explain to me why would anyone would go on tiktok on a government device? I don’t understand why people use it on thier phone, but wouldn’t it be simpler?
most people get a company phone, maybe even laptop. i don’t understand why you wouldn’t just use your personal phone.
that said, i play clash of clans on my company ipad, sooo…
Made by a company 81% owned by Tencent.
Is your boss comfortable with industrial espionage? Because that’s how you get industrial espionage.
our IT department modified the software, so if they didn’t want espionage, they would’ve limited the amount of apps i can install.
plus i’m an apprentice, and have to give it back. there’s nothing that secret on it neither do i have access to anything.
but yeah, that would definetely happen. AFAIK the IT department takes “real” company devices much more seriously and only allows installs from our own app store.
if they didn't want espionage, they would've limited the amount of apps i can install.
Or they would simply expect that the employees would respect the fact that it’s a work device and not a personal one?
nah, nobody cares.
always expect the end user to make the most stupid decisions, and if possible prevent them.
which in in this case, it is.
Funny how you’re admitting to knowingly doing something stupid and it doesn’t keep you from doing it.
“Others do it too!”, the favorite argument of 8 years old children!
Do you always need others to hold your hand and prevent you from acting the wrong way or you’re able to think about the potential consequences of your acts and can control yourself every now and then?
What, like an adult or something?
would you rather have literally 10,000+ points of failure in your system, or none?
if you chose the latter, you better put tiktok on the blacklist.
people are unreasonable, and most of them don’t care about any kind of security. our IT department regularly tries to log in with shit like “Password1234!” and find hundreds of accounts who have this password. that is why we have 2FA on our phones which force us to use a pin that’s at least 8 digits long.
and not allowing people to install malware is somehow not a good idea?
yes i’m unreasonable and do stupid shit, and no one is stopping me.
Some companies make you install a rootkit on your phone to access Teams/Outlook making it a, “company device”.
yeah, i had to install a bunch of microsoft bullshit, which can now control how long my unlock pin has to be for example.
Maybe their phones are a government device?
It’s usually policy that the device provided by your employer isn’t to be used for personal purposes, especially for government employees.
I’ll allow TikTok on some IRS employee devices if they make a sick dance to a song with instructions on how to file your taxes for free, with software made by the IRS. Maybe another dancing TikTok where they just send me how much I owe or not automatically too.
This was the worst “would you rather” thought experiment ever
y’all will never believe where I am!! Area 51!! Got a promotion, these hot new nails, and guuurl, don’t these boots look cute?Don’t forget to subscribe to my onlyfans, and look out for my new video “mile high with drill sergeant dan”
Can’t wait for TikTok to go the way of the Vineosaur
