Ok, so logically GOP presidential candidate shooting are also. Thoughts & prayers & get over it and all that.
I wonder how many bytes were spent sending these three words to my screen.
It would be amazing if all their ICBMs could be just wiped out, but I’m a bit skeptical whether that’s actually true. Even without considering all the submarines.
I don’t know. Rust seems like a better C++ to me rather than a better C. Plain C is a very simple language.
Yeah, the Rust guys’ proposition is roughly this:
Hey you guys with 20-30 years of experience doing a single thing very well. Let’s nullify most of that skillset and replace it with a thing we’re good at.
Don’t worry, we will teach you.
They’re not technically wrong about Rust being a better choice for a kernel, of course. They’re just incredibly misinformed about the social hurdles they need to climb over for it to happen.
Principles you don’t like are still principles.
Alexei Fedotov aka Lex Friedman is a researcher/teacher in MIT. An ultimate techbro.
Well personally this was the last straw. Fuck you, Alexei.
Cool meme, but surely you realize that using a system and being against the system are not in conflict.
Then again if they like the system and think it shouldn’t be dismantled and still vote for someone who wants to dismantle, that’s dumb stupid.
That last time it started by Germany losing WW1 badly and getting a bit of shit handed to them. I don’t think anything comparable is happening right now. Germany is a stable liberal democracy with stable instutitions.
You should remember that he founded the original CopperheadOS project (from which he was violently ousted by his cofounder) and has been working on it and this for a decade.
I know Daniel somewhat from some years back, and calling him extremely toxic is just wrong. He is and has always been rather bad at communication under stress and is clearly on the spectrum in some way. Technically a genius person, but perhaps doesn’t have the right set of qualities to lead things, except from a strictly technical pov.
Very good decision from him to withdraw from social media. I hope he manages to contribute in the future.
Well, looks like I wasn’t banned before.
Oh well!
I sometimes wish getting a ban would mean that I wasn’t allowed to read that shit either. That would help so much.
Bluesky is experiencing a hockeystick scenario currently, apparently. Probably entirely coincidental.
Seriously though, would it be a good thing geopolitically if all people with the same political persuasions would live in specific geographic locations? It seems to me that that would greatly increase the far ends of political spectrums, which might work internally in some sense, but would almost certainly cause problems on all the borders.
I mean it’s possible that he’s working for the other team now, and will be actually influencing for Harris. This would also require removing those teams. Who knows what happens behind the curtain.
I’m browsing the internet via a lynx browser that I was able to access inside a BBS. 300 bytes per second for 5 cents / minute.
Fucking magical.
