I agree that comedy is an area that rarely ages well. If you look at the old post 9/11 HBO comedy spots on MAX they are atrociously racist against middle eastern people to the point where I don’t think they should be available or at least should be labeled history and not comedy.
I thought they just didn’t breed in my habitat last time I moved— turns out they can breed here but they’re quite tightly managed.

glass bottles have a more damaging overall effect, largely because they are heavier and require more energy for their production.

There are definitely areas that aren’t fit for habitation though. If you hear “climate haven” and your takeaway is that we don’t need to do anything aside from moving people out of the way, this article is speaking to you. If you read it as “we need to move people out of swamps and fire zones” you’re good, we need to do that. For example most of South Florida was never fit for permanent structures.
I think insurance companies pulling out of certain areas will amount to the same thing unless they are forced by regulators to provide coverage. If regulators do force that it will be a bandaid—states need to be starting relocation funds for climate impact

Yep, in my area insurance is dropping fire coverage from homes in areas with high fire risk. It’s also kinda valid on the part of the insurance companies (there are areas ripe for disaster) so policies (like requiring them to provide coverage) aren’t enough—some people are going to need to move and it will be much more equitable if it is planned.
When I was little I was at a science store and they had one of these out on the the counter which was a glass counter with metal seams. The clerk was showing us kids how if we held hands and one of us touched it we could all feel it. I was already familiar with touching doorknobs after shuffling in slippers so I got the bright idea to touch the metal seam on the counter and shocked the whole line of kids. good times

Kinda similarly, my brother was taking a drug (interferon) for treatment of a rare cancer that not many people need anymore (a better drug replaced the main use case the drug was developed for, which is different from my brother’s use case). The manufacturer discontinued the drug and noone makes it anymore so my brother and others who were relying on it simply lost access. I never knew this could happen.

Yeah traditional fast food is expensive now, much more bang for your buck going to local chinese, mexican, and indian restaurants where I am. Even a subway sandwich has inched above the prices of local sandwich places (and it’s by far the lowest quality).
