  • I’m sorry, but at 15 you’re old enough to know that stabbing a stranger to death is wrong.

Yes? What do you think they’re implying, that we should try to rehabilitate criminals… but only if they’re still young?

I think (and forgive me if I’m wrong) they’re essentially saying that without a rehabilitory justice system, we’re just locking people up for life and creating a net drain on society. Financially, culturally… it’s a morale drain on our nation, even.

Not to mention that as a society we’re abandoning a person who, through a justice system built on rehabilitation and not some ye oldie Catholic concept of creating a punishing Hell on Earth, could actually flourish one day, adding to our society instead of taking from it.

A prison system designed to simply incarcerate, punish and torture those it touches will never offer anywhere near the same benefits to us as one that is designed to attempt to rehabilitate.

Not everybody can be rehabilitated, of course, but that’s like saying we shouldn’t try to treat cancer, because not everybody can be cured.

  • 6?! They’re up to SIX? I feel like the second one only just came out the other year…

Which one was it where the USA gets invaded and the ISS gets blown up? That’s the last one I played, the concept and set pieces were very cool but the whole thing just felt too much of a repeat of the previous games, so I moved on to fresher stuff after that.

  • Thing is, that’s exactly how you do it as a capitalist.

Compartmentalise your businesses and ensure they’re registered so as to never come after your personal assets should they go bust.

Then, if the business fails and goes bust, shut it down, sack everyone, and a week later reopen in the same place with a slightly different name and rehire most of the same staff under the new company.

The new company is not in any way legally connected to the old one, and the one one’s debts are to be handled whatever administration firm took all that over, etc.

I’ve seen it happen first hand here in the UK, good example of why capitalists are scumbags that are above our laws.

  • Ahh, old hanging balls, gotchya xD

Yeah the medium of text can be tricky to convey meaning sometimes, I’m a pretty sarcastic person (gotta love using humour to cope with every situation, so healthy…) with a very deadpan kinda delivery on a lot of it, so I often find myself wondering if my intent came across well over text. Tricky indeed.

Anyway you’re cool, and thanks for taking the time to reply so thoughtfully :-)

Now, I’m going to go back to being drenched in a cold sweat! It seems that’s today’s COVID symptom roulette wheel choice! 💦☉_☉💦

  • American Gods, Rings of Power, Good Omens, the Expanse, Man in the high castle, the Last of us, etc etc.

It’s not always as good of a selection as other services, but it’s got a fair few gems on there and a good amount of back catalogue films and tv shows that are fab :-)

And the fact that they collect so much stuff that would otherwise not be available at all (usually because its only on some random foreign streaming service and refuses to work with netflix) is where they really shine.

That said, I immediately stopped using it when they brought adverts in to the paid subscription. I’m not paying to watch adverts, sorry, no.

  • I’ve been binge watching the fever dreams (⊙ᴗ⊙)

I’m mostly worried about my mother, I caught it from my father (somehow, after seeing him like once last week in passing) and even though he isolated from her once he knew he had it, she tested positive yesterday too, …and she’s due to go on her first big trip abroad in her ENTIRE LIFE in like 4 days to Paris (we’re a bit lower class haha), supposed to be a big special once in a lifetime treat from her daughter, planned it for a year now :-(

First time any of us have caught it too, my father is in the high risk category (twice over) so we’ve generally been careful this whole time, and we’ve been getting the boosters (ironically this year’s booster became available TODAY) but ya know it was going to happen eventually…

But enough of my story of extremely bad timing, glad to hear you recovered without and lasting negative effects :-)
