Yeesh. I relate fully to the brother part. Mine also likes to pretend, but at least isn’t that oblivious about the terminal. Intervention, though?! LMAO
“Friends don’t let friends Gentoo”, or something
I’m pretty sure the VP of engineering knew what I was up to, but I think he also understood that I didn’t get paid enough to be as neurotic as he was and I generally got stuff done ahead of schedule any way.
I used to do something similar when I was working in embedded systems, specifically because my superiors had no idea. I would just put our OS up to compile on repeat so one if my machines was always spitting out nonsense (but vaguely related to work).
“Sorry boss, just waiting on the new build to finish up so I can start on that.”
I agree. There are so many available now.
Absolutely perfect. I was traveling with a friend and we decided to watch a movie I had on my hard drive. Once I booted into i3 and I had to use a couple key chords to navigate, they said, “Your computer gives me anxiety.” 😂
Same person almost shit their pants when I replaced youtu.be
with yewtu.be
in a URL to get a region locked video to play. I am a bonafide hacker in their eyes.
I’m just tired of seeing the faces of two particular people in my subscribed feed, where I work to keep them out. This place is supposed to allow me feel a little better about the world and humans in general, not make me fall deeper into reclusiveness.
Pretty sure that’s a French thing (Napoleon), but maybe you’re French and that’s what you mean by “here.”
Sun Tzu also said something similar before Napoleon (Art of War, Ch 4-2):
To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.
Makes sense, considering Taoism comes from China. The philosophy is “wu wei”, which essentially means, “Action without Action.”
I didn’t know about Dash, but it sounds pretty great. Appears to be Mac only, though, and requires a subscription for the latest version.
Also found someone that appears to have converted HelpPC to HTML. Can’t speak to the legitimacy of it, though.
Came here to say something similar about a local archive.
You can also use the app Kiwix to make it a little easier to download/search (and grab several other doc archives like Python PEP and Wikipedia)
(irrelevant anecdote about Arch)
THANK YOU. I really wish people would take the two seconds it requires to give credit.
I tried doing a reverse image search with TinEye and Google but was coming up empty. Now that I see the original image, I see why it didn’t match 100%. Missing some background elements.
Yea, I get the reference. I’m asking about the artist for the joke.
The only reason I started to enjoy the prequels was because of r/prequelmemes
