100%, I think this is the way to go especially if you don’t want to get way into the specifics e.g. VLANs and jazz as I did

HE is amazing. their BGP looking glass tool is also one of my favorite troubleshooting tools for backbone issues. 10/10 ISP
do it. get a good VPN and do it. I know how these networks are usually architected - they probably will never notice. use as much bandwidth as you can over a VPN and they’ll probably never really see it. also there’s likely no bandwidth cap, since the fiber circuits that feed these units are also usually uncapped in terms of how much data they can pass per billing period, unlike Spectrum/Comcast/VZ/all the other shit ISPs out there.
I know I don’t notice a heavy user when I look at my metrics and even if I did, I don’t get paid to care. just don’t get caught with your VPN off, they probably will see that and disable your service or give you a call and tell you you’re being a bad user a la Skippy.
yeah, this sounds about right. it’s predatory af and also the ISPs are usually pretty shit too. Most of these providers charge absolutely insane rates compared to their costs (because they can), and the people paying the ISPs aren’t the tenants - it’s the HOA or owners, and they don’t care that the users are being overcharged, so it just goes on and on.
They often have preferential access to wiring, rack, and roof space, as well as fiber runs, they actively keep other ISPs out of the building.
source: network engineer for an ISP, and deal with these antics daily.
totally agree. driver assists are huge for driver safety (probably saved my life when riding with people driving while tired, which was a bad choice on their part but a big part of the reason why it’s so important to have them) and Elon trying to make autonomous driving a thing instead of improving the shit we already know is gonna cost lives
i think this is why i’m such a fan of driver assists - not so-called “autonomous” driving, but driver assists: they literally help you stay more aware of your surroundings (in your case, blind spot monitoring) so you can make better driving inputs. we should have them as standard by law on every new car, not whatever bullshit sci-fi stuff fElon is trying to get up to
“it’s not fair that you tested it in a driving scenario that happens every day during rainstorms, that’s not fair!!1!! you’re defaming our favorite Nazi scum :(” - Tesla fanboys
when I was working in the residential ISP space some years ago during the FCC credits, we had some basic plans (25/3Mbit, 35/5Mbit) that were entirely or mostly covered by that discount program. it’s by no means a flashy number but it gave thousands of our customers access to broadband, that most of them lost the ability to afford it as soon as the discount ended. go California, I hope this works out because it’s super important for everyone to have broadband
I rode in a 2019 Subaru Ascent (like a big Outback) a few years ago, the lane keep assist was great even back then, not to mention the blind spot monitoring and all that. and it was all included. wtf is Tesla even doing with all that time and money??
yep - and if you all want to see the serious meat and potatoes of what we know about Israeli spyware, check out TheCitizenLab at the University of Toronto’s recent write up exposing Israeli spyware campaigns.
I am aware that it’s wishful thinking. I feel the same way you do, but even an arrest is better than nothing. it will take protests, it will take oversight and everything that comes along with it to fix this, absolutely
so when the fuck do we stop accusing and start charging and arresting? I’m so sick of these headlines saying that “people are saying Trump bad! no way :3” like…what are we DOING about it though??
they don’t give a fuck about the law or the legality of whatever they get up to, we know that and they most definitely know that.
same holy fuck I’d do that in a flash. what a steal
in memory of this, I’m starting another Tor relay! :)
I personally saw thousands of young and middle aged folk at my local protests including POC, in higher concentration than old people. not sure what you’re talking about but it isn’t representative
the boot type is also accurate, this is well done
I’ve used QubesOS, Tails and Tor all extensively and they are all incredible. based on what I’ve seen, it’s best not to use Tor on its own unless you’re entirely sure of how you plan to use it - reason being that misconfiguring it can deanonymize you, so it’s best to stick with Tails for sensitive Tor activities and the Tor Browser for less sensitive stuff - Tails forces the whole system to interface with the internet via the Tor network so you don’t leak network traffic onto the clearnet when you’re doing silly business.
also a little shout out to Orbot which is a Tor router app for Android that will allow you to connect your whole phone over the Tor network (or just a single app). This is huge especially if you’re being censored in another country and want to use Signal or another app that doesn’t support Tor already.
happy routing :D
“bombshell!! Trump slammed by liberal party!!” bombshell my fucking nuts, when are y’all going to actually do something about it though? I’m so fucking tired of these stupid “bombshell” and “liberals slam” headlines while the media plays softball with this admin as if they aren’t burning the nation to the ground.
