Which is twice as funny because consultants often cost more in the short term. It’s mostly to avoid those pesky things like “benefits” or “pension plans” that employers need to take care of for their own employees.

Do the not so idle ones without the warning. If you’re going to get sent to El Salvador, make it worth while.

Feel free to come join us in Canada. We still appreciate doctors and scientists here and would be happy to let you continue work on curing Parkinsons disease.
We’ll add it to our list of achievements that we give out for free, like insulin. That’s sure to please Trump and your health insurance companies.
Fitting that DOGE went to war with the people working at the Insititute of Peace.
I swear this guy really thinks he’s going to go down in history as the next Ghandi or something, his mind must be on a whole different level of dipshit.

Absolutely horrible for her, and exactly what you said, shameful of the US system.
deeferg@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Woman Arrested After Miscarriage in Georgia Under Abortion Law5·3 months agoTruly, even the article set her up to lose. Talking about her throwing the remains in the dumpster to make us think about parents who have done that with living babies.
When I took a second to think further, I was questioning why the hell she even had the remains in the first place! She was taken to a hospital, presumably to have them removed, did the doctors just give them back and expect her to take it to the nearest biohazard dump? Ridiculous.

deeferg@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Britain issues travel warning for USEnglish10·3 months agoWent to a music show around 2022 and was in the middle of the crowd when they put an alert up on the big screen telling everyone to stay calm with the grateful dead bears and all I could think was “must be someone with a gun if they’re being so nonchalant about it”. No calls to evacuate, just “everyone chill out, we got another one”.
Didn’t really give me a warm and safe feeling, and have no interest to go back regardless of who is in power because of it.

I don’t disagree on a general scale but in relation to this post it isn’t the rich forcing a lot of teams back to work. It’s people in management positions that are over valued and unable to provide an effective workspace without being over their workers shoulders. There’s always the argument the building owners who rent their spaces are the ones paying to get RTO more advertisement space, but in the end it’s the middle class doing it to itself.
