Not only do they force you to use the App Store, developing an app for iOS is a nightmare. Without special tools you must have a mac and a $100/yr apple developer license.
After having to deal with that shit at my old place of work I’ve moved to never touch app development again.
Or because you forgot one very crucial part?
I had that happen to me as a junior. The other seniors weren’t even able to help, so in the end nothing was done. IIRC it was an old python app which the OG author explained the nonsense logic of, but not how to actually run it, or vice versa. Either who the whole project was fucked up
My backgrounds have been me and my son, dressed in blue, against a green garden background. There’s barely a pixel of brown to be found, but I always get that poo coloured nightmare.
It’s some fresh hellish bug that Android has introduced, it’ll adapt the theme based on your wallpaper. It’s a bug because it always chooses that 70’s brown color. And yes, before you ask, you’re not able to disable it. You have to reset your theme everytime you change your wallpaper.
In Sweden it’s stigmatized because of “jantelagen” (a set of written unwritten social rules, basically, don’t think you’re better than anyone else and don’t boast). For example I’ve got a high paying job as a software developer, so talking to my unioned electrician friend who makes significantly less about their $120 salary bumps is kind of awkward. If he found out how much I make I’m pretty sure there’s a chance he’d do talking to me for a while.
But I’d like to say I’m staying humble still. I was about to study to be an electrician when I got a message on LinkedIn which landed me my job as a developer.
I’m also not above admitting that we make too damn much compared to our peers who do jobs which actually contribute to society (teachers like my wife or electricians like my friend). But I’m gonna ride the wave, try to max my salary, and try to encourage our son to not discard jobs like electricians, carpentery, etc.
It definitely is not a joke - their inability and refusal to make themselves understood is a real problem.
The only solution is to boycott them all and dig out their countries and separate them from the rest of Europe (/s)
Woking with people from southern Europe (seen from Sweden), sadly a lot. Belgians, Luxemburgians, French (🤢), Swiss, and the list continues.
I learned recently when looking for new winter tyres for it car that there are three-ish classifications for winter tyres: unstudded, studded, Nordics.
You will end up in a ditch without studded tyres here. In the winters we’ll have a constant decimeter of ice on the pavements. The busy roads will have two tyre tracks between a 5-10 cm thick layer of ice and snow, which looks to lead to asphalt. But no, it’s the absolutely most slippery ice you will ever come across.
The city buses stopped using studded tyres a couple of years ago for environmental reasons. You almost feel shame hitting the stop button, because the driver has to slow down well before the stop and takes a good minute for it to get slide up to speed again
For reference, somewhere in Västerbotten, Sweden
“Encrypted DMs”
isn’t that just a longer way of saying “PM”?
This is the way. There is a GParted distro that you can boot from a USB-drive that will allow you to move the partition and expand it to take up the free space Windows left.
You should first install GParted to familiarise yourself a little with how the GUI looks. It’s relatively simple, definitely simpler than parted, but it doesn’t hurt to have a look around before doing it live.
It’s also good to note that everything you do in GParted needs to be applied before it’s actually done. You “cannot” accidentally delete a whole partition without actually hitting an apply button.
I’m not the one you’ve been arguing with and I’m also European 🤷♂️
You made a claim, you need to provide proof for it, not everyone else. That’s how burden of proof works.
>“it was all over the news!”
>can’t provide any proof
Burden of proof is on you, buddy.
I’ve found that Spotify goes “oh you listen exclusively to Scandinavian extreme metal? How about some American screamo OR the exact same stuff you’ve listened to already”, which is the polar opposite to what I want. YouTube music is just a huge mess for me.
Tidal however has reintroduced me to some great bands I had forgotten about and shown me some new ones which are Top Notch ™️
Engineering manager, the one responsible for a team
€70k as a developer? That’s a middled aged EM salary here in Sweden
It’s not wrong, but it feels a bit like some tech articles you’ll see which are obviously just created to fluff up a CV. I wouldn’t say avyttring here is flat out wrong, just kinda… lacking.
But yeah, /boot holds “system boot loader files”, sure, but that’s a bit vague. It should contain your kernel and initramcpio and IIRC Grub also had its config here. That’s pretty much it. I would’ve rather said /boot contains the kernel.
“device files” it’s so vague that it’s almost wrong IMO. At first glaze I would’ve thought that it means drivers rather than, say, “interfaces to devices”
