Man, things sure have changed since I was in college. The university had one /15 and three /16s so every single ethernet port everywhere on campus had a publicly routable IP.
Napster was so goddamn fast…
I’m just this guy, you know. Except on Lemmy.

I don’t know what’s worse: This or Goldman Sachs endorsing her.
I hate how politics makes these jerks my bedfellows.
We’d need a wide range of rich people munitions if we wanted to fight a war. Armor-piercing rich people, incendiary rich people, cluster rich people, high-explosive rich people. It’ll be quite the endeavor.
I didn’t take it and I still had guys showing up at my door, calling me, and in one case a Marine recruiter ran two blocks to talk to me.
That may have been location dependent. In the my school in the 90s it was optional. I didn’t take it because I didn’t want more recruiters calling me, so I’ll always be curious at how I’d have done.
If they could feel shame they wouldn’t have assaulted someone at Arlington National Cemetary
To put it another way: If they were shooting up board rooms instead of classrooms we’d have gun control yesterday.
So this is a press release, meant to be consumed by interns in a news room to stitch into a barely read story on a news site.
But reading between the lines, this is $7.3 billion going to improve the grid for a bunch of rural electricity cooperatives, which is pretty great. Moving the energy generated around is a big problem, especially when some weird hippie moves in and puts a ton of solar panels down hoping to sell energy back to the grid.
(It’s me. I’m the weird hippie. Hopefully, someday.)
The only way he stops this is if a bunch of hipsters go there ironically to have the worst time ever.
Thanks that helps but being able to hide specific items from the feed on my browser would be nice.
Is there a good way to block stories about a specific event? I’m already having a bad day and hearing about something that will never stop is making it worse.
I hate being on the same side as Goldman Sachs.
Unless idiots are allowed to keep fully loaded weapons within easy reach of children the government will start throwing us into internment camps.
The fact that it’s this close further erodes my faith in humanity. That’s not good.
“We gotta do something nerds like to sell computers. What do nerds like?”
Step 3 of enshittification has begun
Which I also don’t get. Those guys don’t seem macho or cool either.
People want to stop this, they just all disagree about what needs to be done, so nothing gets done.
