Climate? Fucked. Safety? Fucked.
Climate? Fucked. Safety? Fucked.
Everyone, except Palestine and Lebanon
I’ve been using Original Commenter (OC) to talk about the person who starts a comment thread. Seems to be pretty intuitive. Wonder what the acronym would be for commenters responding to OC and starting different comment branches. Probably makes sense to just use their name
The US is bipartisan when it comes to Israeli support because Democrats haven’t broken from that bipartisan tradition.
Once Democrats do, it is no longer bipartisan.
I don’t expect Conservatives to do this given what you’ve said, so Democrats foot the bill.
Biden has in fact already called for the cease of arms transfers, but that policy goes into effect after the election finishes. If Biden can call for it after the election, he can call for it today.
There is no reason why the Commander in Chief cannot outlaw the transfer of weapons and ammunition to Israel. We’ve already broken one of our laws that prevents this.
Oh I will always tell people to not vote for Trump. There is doing damage to our international reputation as the leader of the free world, and then there is complete and utter dismantling and destruction of the free world, us included.
I will vote and it won’t be Trump, but I also want Democrats to earn my vote. The cognitive dissonance has to stop.
The Israeli government is being fascist, and has been for a long time. Thank you for calling it out. Sad to see the down votes because Palestinians have been locked in Israel’s cage with no freedom for decades, and Lebanon is next. Hopefully society starts to shift in its outlook and complicity.
You hit the nail on the head too. So many people cannot support Democrats during this election because although they call for freedom and justice, they also call for arms transfers and no repurcussions for Netanyahu countlessly dissolving freedom and justice for Palestinians.
Voting for Democrats, unfortunately, boils down to “rights for me, not for thee”, and the only difference between that sentiment and what you might find in Conservatives is that Democrats hold that distinction between all Americans and those from other countries. Conservatives hold that between different groups of Americans.
Really sours any hope I had for Kamala overtaking Biden
The Harris Administration is actively trying to silence Walz’s beliefs.
It’s ironic because it’s Walz himself that has ignited support for Harris.
So frustrating as a progressive
What about a BlackRock break-up
Yeah I also saw the similarly to ALM in the comments of this post.
Yes, women also abuse men (and also other women), but the vast majority of cases that appear before a judge involve men as the perpetrators. I’d want to tackle the big problems first if I have to prioritize cultural (and sexual) progress of a society.
But I also recognize bias exists at pretty much every level of this process, inside or outside of a courtroom. I think we should still value evidence over hearsay, as was demonstrated in a case like Depp v. Heard, yet show compassion for victims because they need to feel safe to speak up, no matter the gender.
And who also said “you’ll be ok” to the Hurricane Helene survivors. Fucks sake
I saw Hasan Piker share that KKK flyer yesterday on his stream. It’s fucking disgusting, with the font and everything.
I was apprehensive about using the term Nazi to describe conservatives because I didn’t want to group them all under that banner, but there’s no hiding it anymore. I’m going to use this language around my friends and family until and after the election in hopes of setting there minds straight. We are literally watching the coming of the Fourth Reich. Fuck
There are literally like 10 different major dictionaries. If you have one specific one in mind, I’ll kindly refer you to OneLook.com
Yo a climate town share! Awesome!
Single stream recycling is a scam. Multi stream is much better. I recycle my paper and metals separately from glass and plastics for this reason. Wish there was an easy way to recycle glass too, but the collection networks aren’t as widespread as the other two.
Using water to make food is a good use so long as it doesn’t led to waste on the part of us humans throwing that food out. This is a larger issue than just animal agriculture, but animal products have larger water footprints and consequently make up a higher proportion of that waste.
Also, water isn’t destroyed, but it’s extracted and shipped to other parts of the planet. This virtually eliminates the water present in the origin biome. Again, this issue cuts across animal and plant agriculture, but animal products have a higher water footprint and make up a higher proportion of that water displacement.
I think my original comment points to a greater understanding of the system wholistically than any of your one-off comments have. If you want to convince the viewer of this point, do my comment but better.
Cottonseed isn’t the only feedstock for animal agriculture. Soy, grain, and corn are all others. The fact that cottonseed is utilized doesn’t negate the utilization of other crops farmed specifically for animal agriculture, and not as a byproduct of another industry. That byproduct could be used for other purposes, including continuation of cotton farmers’ own biostock for future plantings. But of course most cotton grown around the world is genetically modified to withstand fungicides, and these fungicides don’t just wash off. Many people have allergic reactions to cotton depending on how it’s grown and where it’s sourced. Imagine now that that cottonseed is going into your food supply, where it doesn’t go away.
I think that the circular economy is a virtue and we as a species should aim for it, but you pointing to cottonseed metrics ignores the larger variables associated with soy, corn, grain, and alfalfa. Those crops are all grown directly, not indirectly in the case of cottonseed, for animal agriculture, and do not offset the savings you get from using a byproduct.
Most agriculture is pursued for feedstock for the animal agriculture industry. This is true all across the planet. Also, CO2 != CH4.
Eating animals does have impact. It has impact on your body and the animal.
I mean, you’re right.
The fact that one of the major tauted policies of Harris’ campaign was a border wall, something that Trump exclusively brought to the table in 2016, is just one example of our government racheting more and more conservative over time. Democrats used to at least advocate for America being a land of immigrants.
Really hope Harris doesn’t run in 2028 if she wins 2024. We need a Democratic primary where Americans can choose those in the party who represent more progressive values than the establishment.
