I mean the people affected by lead are still around. There was lead in everything, the lead in gasoline was found in roadside dirt from the exhaust. Not to mention all the new chemicals we have started using in the last 100years. There is definitely going to be side effects from the plastics. Heck they have proof that obesity and diabetes in pregnant women increases the chances of babies being born with Autism. Apparently the mother’s blood sugar swinging around during critical brain development stage isn’t good for the developing brain. But they aren’t going to tell people that because they want to sell their unhealthy food.
Sometimes it didn’t even make sense. I had a project Engineer (job lead) stay overnight with the night shift mechanics who were fixing a weld on our VDL (elevator for car bodies). He said that it was so he could make sure they lined it up correctly and test it. He could have done that when we came in the morning, there was a day shift mechanical crew if we had any issues.
I used to be an automotive controls engineer. 100hr work weeks were not unusual onsite, the norm was 80hrs. And you can end up onsite for anywhere from 2-10 months depending on the job. The 100hr weeks were usually only for a few weeks when production starts up again. But it’s the whole culture, there is a lot of pressure from the customer to get production back up. And most of the industry veterans I worked with loved bragging about the 36hr days they had worked in the past to “get the job done”. It’s like a cult, they get into the mindset of “well I did it so everyone else has to too”.
I had a similar experience. I have a very demanding pushy cat who doesn’t like other cats because he sees them as attention competition. We got another cat 2 months younger kept him separated for two weeks and then slowly started having supervised visitation. He hissed and growled outside the door at first and then later a bit to his face. But by the end of the month they could be left alone together. This is them, about a month and a half after Ozzie came home with us.
CAPTCHA was never about keeping bots or AI out. It was always about tracking people. That’s why you get more of the “select correct images” CAPTCHAs the more you hide who you are online. It’s not that they are trying to figure out if you are a bot, it that they are trying to figure out who you are period. Interactions with a site exchange information the more interactions the more information they get. Also they can’t make a profit selling your information, they might as well use your free labor to train their AI.
It’s probably reduced brain function from COVID. I think that is affecting things more than people realize. Or everyone just got more greedy during that time.
Now I know I am relatively young (just making the cut off to be considered a Millennial). But my parents were very against allowing kids access to the internet but not ani-technology. As a result I was using a 1996 Toshiba satellite when I was 4yr for Scholastic Reader Rabbit preschool games, but didn’t have regular internet access until I was 15. So I am familiar with the eccentricities of Windows 95, this did help me at work once when we had to use some legacy software from the 90’s that would only run on Win 98. But anyway I only recently have started using Linux in Docker containers for testing environments.
After the recent “DEI replacement” cronyism maybe?Would almost bet on him firing anyone competent in favor of yes men.
I mean have you seen a redhead on a beach, they probably reflect the same amount as snow. Might burn your eyes if you stare long enough, they will probably turn into a lobster first.
