One who still stands a chance of actually winning. It’s fairly impossible to grasp looking from the outside in.
That’s what it means to live in a “post-truth” world. There are essentially two overlapping but competing worldviews each with their own “reality”. Which is fucking sad. When I was young I imagined the internet being what would eventually connect us all and truly inform everyone. Instead, we got echo chambers festering into actual terrorism.
Reminds me of the original AVP catchphrase: “Whoever wins, we lose”.
And also that for democracy to survive, you need to win every time, whereas they only need to really win once in order to establish dominance.
It’s not an even battle, not by a long shot.
Most of those don’t have an army of sycophants trying to rewrite reality in realtime for them.
Erdogan once said “democracy is a bus we ride until we reach our destination”. I feel major similar vibes from the GOP.
The animals featured heavily on social media, so it could literally have been anyone. I agree with the sentiment though. Some person had to be the one to insert the needle and inject the poison, knowing full well the animals would test negative. I don’t know how someone like that can sleep at night, but if there’s anything I’ve learned these past few years it’s that human pettiness truly has no limits.
I used to run VM’s in parallel for my job, which eat RAM like candy. Other than that though, I’ve never had a use case for more than 32GB RAM.
This is starting to have all the makings of a true world war. Especially the first.
Pretty much for form I suppose, there are other ways to get those drivers.
I’ve been in a few online games with RU players and it struck me as so weird to be playing a game with someone from a nation we are basically at war with. Major WWI Xmas football vibes.
WWI-style cascade of breakdown of international relations?
Agreed. I have zero issues with actual horror games but diving into the dead zone or below the magma caves hits differently. Seeing a leviathan dive up from the abyss is… chilling, even after many times.
The reapers I could get used to, but damn…
They wouldn’t exactly admit a source and compromise further operations. They probably had at least an idea of where he might be.
Cowards. The Ukrainians are laying down their lives in defense of Europe and they can’t even get this, but a genocidal maniac who would sacrifice millions to remain in power gets all the aid he wants.
Pretty telling when the only way you can get your users to “upgrade” is by stealth. I wonder what the % of involuntarily upgraded win11 users is vs people who knowingly and willingly did so.
It’s called a honeypot. They even ran CP servers in the past (after taking them over from the actual admins, in order to unmask the users).
Orwell wrote that book based on his personal observations from how the government already worked decades prior. All he did was 1+1=2 and he was visionary because of it. Same with Marx. Or Verne.
There’s a reason dystopian fiction has reigned supreme for over a decade now. We’re obsessed with our inevitable fate.
Por que no los dos?
A meek, terrified populace is ripe fruit for the picking for actors both internal & external.
Call me a hippy but I’ve always had a problem with the very concept of a judge. As in, someone who gets paid (royally!) just to, well judge people. As we all know the law is anything but impartial, so my take was always that, say, the “wrong” type of people gravitate towards these posts. Keep this up for a few decades and you have a thorougly corrupt legal system (not remotely resembling a “justice” system).
It’s not as if I have any workable alternatives, but still the very concept feels wrong to me somehow.
