Isn’t this the RockPi? Or is the RockPi just based on the RK3588? It’s great for open-source but good lord are these SBC’s astronomically high.

IRIX was Unix based with BSD extensions and I believe Maxx Interactive now runs on FreeBSD without Linux compatibility mode. So hopefully it won’t be long before it goes open source. Though I can’t understand why it would be needed outside of anything but nostalgia.

Android? It’s not wholly closed source similar to RedHat they’ve got closed source elements while using open source elements.

Linux and its kernel are based on GPL and so to distribute something using it would require a compatible license. That means a full distro can’t be anything but open source and actually be distributed in free or paid versions. That doesn’t mean there aren’t closed source interfaces being used personally or undistributed.

I love Tabby simply because it allows me to set it up like the drop down terminal in Quake. Specifically its capabilities make my use of it easier and far more capable than something like guake.

Yeah installed it on an old Core 2 Duo laptop and so far it works great. Granted I’m running i3 rather than a hefty desktop.

Man I haven’t heard about Manjaro in a LOOONG time. Guess I need to look back into it.

Sadly Minecraft is very much CPU dependent over GPU. When you really start cranking down hard on the GPU with Proton you’re really hoping everything just works out without showing any cracks. With Nvidia’s lack of true Linux support it makes Proton pretty tough to get right.

I meant it more as an inexperienced Linux user having to fix something and inadvertently causing havoc more so than drive wiping.

The F Windows posts are great and can be very therapeutic. But guaranteed those users haven’t issued a command that accidentally wipes out their entire drive accidentally. Or they haven’t had their Window Manager just up and decide it doesn’t feel like working anymore because of an update.

I work with Linux a lot simply because of my 3D printers and I love it. But being on a community driven edge can be a nightmare sometimes when something updates and you’ve got to track down the problem. For me that’s half the fun since I usually get to help someone else out with the same issue.

I need to try Gentoo again. The installer used to be absolute garbage and required a ton of work to get the a usable system if you deviated too far from a normal computer setup.

I’m not saying he didn’t screw the pooch. I’m just saying the whole world economy took a huge hit which clearly was due to the COVID lockdowns. I’m not saying they weren’t needed and we absolutely should have done everything we did. But to pretend it was all Trump’s fault is showing just as much brain power that he does.

Sounds a lot like blame shifting. I’m not understanding how anyone would expect the Secretary of State to know how each and every county should handle their election. And I also don’t understand how human error on the commissioners end should be blaming the SoS. This just really stinks of blame shifting rather than taking the blame and doing better next time. That’s the whole point of having election commissioners is for them to make it work for the county they’re a part of.

And the fact the whole world shut down for a few months. I’m sure that had something to do with it.

Really wish I could see popularity spanning over years rather than a quarter. Maybe I’m missing a setting somewhere I’m not seeing.

Not to mention your average user is likely to read the error on screen whether they know a log exists at all. This info alone can help software support.

Work at a hotel. We have them occasionally. When a room is found to have them the room is put off market for 24 hrs as are any adjacent rooms either beside or above/below. They’re chemically treated at the beginning of the 24 hrs. This includes destroying ALL linens and chemically treating any fabric surfaces as well. The rooms are “flipped” with every headboard and painting removed from the walls during treatment. The mattresses have bedbug prevention (bedbug covers) already on them but they’re inspected and replaced regularly. At 16 hours the rooms are checked and verified there are no active bedbugs. The rooms are then steam treated for good measure. At 22 hours they’re cleaned with special vacuums to prevent relocation.

If a guest is in the room when they are found then all of their clothing and laundry are heat treated and inspected.

This seems to be the industry standard for large corporate hotels. I work for one of the largest in the world. This is our SOP. It’s expensive but we don’t end up with infestations so it apparently works.
