It’s not as though they’re not given the opportunity to become a state. They have voted in the past for things to stay as-is. If I recall, it was a pretty close vote, however.

Oh sure, this is obviously extremely anecdotal. I am on the closer to Gen X side of millennial, so I’m sure that will impact my experience as well. And then, of course, there are always outliers.

Those are the same people who told my generation that we would all be failures if we didn’t pay tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars to get a college degree, so my sympathies are limited.

No, we’re talking about using it as a noun. Saying “an illegal”. Not saying “an illegal immigrant”.

Yes, it does. That’s the whole point of why it’s bad to use the word “illegal” as a noun to describe people. And that’s why people do so. Dehumanization. They’re not an illegal immigrant. They’re “an illegal”. Barely even a person.

But they will happily use statistics which include both groups.

“Illegal driver” and “illegal doctor” are also terms that nobody uses.

Harassing someone who has been fighting for a ceasefire. These kind of protestors don’t realize how they only damage their cause by looking like extremists and idiots.

They refuse to take those options because it would involve the massive hassle and expense of moving to a place where they are not from, do not know anybody, do not like, and which has terrible public services.

Wanting to live a good life is not entitled.

Wanting to live where there are jobs, grocery stores, and health care facilities within a reasonable distance is not entitlement.

Or maybe they can’t afford your suggestion. Do you have any idea how much it costs to move across the US? I’ve done it a few times and I can assure you that it’s not cheap.
