I have been thinking of him as “the mayonnaise” personally.

Good.
It’s often (but not always) available at supermarkets, but it’s not commonly eaten. Hopefully the tradition will die off with the older generations.
Eight might be young enough to forgive them, but I highly doubt eleven is.
There way too many tankies on Lemmy.
I guess they are under the false assumption that the platform spreading disinformation is unintentional and undesired.
It’s pretty obvious from the context.
My first thought was, “They what? They stole protestors? Meaning kidnapped? But that’s not how it’s spelled…”
“All passengers were safe because they were local residents of Alama village,” said Ramadhani, adding that the village is in a mountainous district which can be reached only by helicopter. A joint security force was deployed to search for the attackers, who ran into the dense jungle.
So Papuans hired this guy to get them home, and when he did, their community murdered him. Guess Papuans need to learn to fly or never leave their homes if they live in a mountainous village.
If I learned this after I had booked, I would be expecting a refund as well as compensation for missing the conference if I couldn’t find alternative accommodation.
Not everything is about the US.
It’s bizarre to me that the country doesn’t have a line of succession for the next person to automatically assume the vacant position.
Property taxes are the base funding for numerous local government services, including sewers, water, roads, jails, deputies, school building construction and teacher salaries — “pretty much the most basic of government,” said North Dakota Association of Counties Executive Director Aaron Birst.
I guess if that’s really what they want to defund, then go for it, but don’t expect any federal dollars.
“Environmentally friendly”? No, they use crazy amounts of power.
“High-paying, long-term” jobs? Working in a data center may be in the tech field, but it doesn’t offer what people think of as “tech money” and your opportunity for advancement is slim. Data centers also don’t need to employ large numbers of people. They just suck up space and resources.
Edit:
The data center industry’s demand for electricity is growing so much that it could threaten Washington’s efforts to transition to a carbon-free power grid…
The original bill required each data center to create at least 35 permanent positions at 150% of the surrounding area’s average personal income.
A second bill, approved just a month after lawmakers passed the first tax break, gave recipients the choice between creating 35 jobs or just three positions per 20,000 square feet of server farm space, whichever was less.
Oh look, I was right. Could have told you all that before the state wasted money on this.
Bad autocorrect. Thanks.
