My way of thinking and working is incompatible with most premade automatism, it utterly confuses me when a system is doing something on its own without me configuring it that way.

That’s why I have issues with many of the “easy” distributions like Ubuntu. Those want to be to helpful for my taste. Don’t take me wrong, I am not against automatism or helper tools/functions, not at all. I just want to have full knowledge and full control of them.

I used Gentoo for years and it was heaven for me, the possibility to turn every knob exactly like I wanted them to be was so great, but in the end was the time spend compiling everything not worth it.

That’s why I changed to Arch Linux. The bare bone nature of the base install and the high flexibility of pacman and the AUR are ideal for me. I love that Arch by default is not easy, that it doesn’t try to anticipate what I want to do. If something happens automatically it is because I configured the system do behave that way.

Linux is so great, because there is a distribution for nearly everyone out there (unless you are blind, then things are not that great apparently, but it seems to get better).

a) ad hominem and b) where did you take the information from that I am an anime fan? Only because I know the definition of the Japanese word “Moe”? A definition that is only one Wikipedia search away.

Maybe you should get some education and logical thinking first before you send others into re-education.

As I said in another post this was only a demonstration that people can read and interpret negative meaning in every combination of words if they really want to. I even gave the definition why “Ghoul” can be read in a negative way, but yeah it is easier to pull the conversation down to the ad hominem level like you did.

So in that regard was my little demonstration really successful, way more so then I intended.

To be honest, I don’t care at all what they use as a funny wordplay, Moe Ghoul is even funnier than the older choice in my eyes. But my personal opinion about it is irrelevant, sorry that I have one.

We talk about personal opinions, there is not much that is more personal then personal opinions. And you are making ad hominem claims (my soberness) so yes it is about me.

Bullying should never be ok, and rules should be valid and applicable for everyone.

Nobody should be a valid target for verbal abuse, not even anime nerds.

So if a rule against verbal harm and abuse are implemented (which I am not against at all) then such rule should be valid and used for all cases. There is no equality if new inequality is created in the process.

I am playing a new character in Elder Scrolls 3 - Morrowind right now. The modding community for that game is so good, with OpenMW (a open source engine rebuild) and the tool “umo” it was so easy to install a curated mod list that not only upscaled the graphics but also extended the game with not only a huge part of the Morrowind mainland but also parts of cyrodiil and Skyrim. So much new content and places to explore now!

There already is a API for this with ebpf for Windows and it is the same API that can be used on Linux (because it originates from Linux).

EBPF still runs in Kernel space but in a much more limited and confined way.

Internal HDMI capture cards are barely supported, there are some professional brands like blackmagic that have support but nearly all consumer grade capture cards are not supported at all, because the companies who make them don’t care about Linux.

USB based capture cards often work because they use the same standard protocols as USB cameras.

Cups is so much better then everything printer related that is available for Windows and it works so good that even Apple was not able or willing to create something on their own and are using it their OS on all devices. Yes, the web interface is dated but nearly every Desktop comes with a modern integrated interface for printer setup and configuration. It is ages that I had to use the web interface. Cups comes with a boatload of printer drivers out of the box. And if not then there are often PPD files on the homepage of the printer manufacturer.

Multifunction printers are a special case and if they are supported or not depends either on how the device is build (are the parts addressable Independently as printer, scanner, modem/Fax) or is it all a integrated mashup that needs special software or drivers from the manufacturer. In the first case can the printer part often be used with cups and the scanner with sane. Well in the second case there is not much that Linux developers can do without support and goodwill from the manufacturer.

I played for a while on the switch, controlling with buttons and stick is so much better then with a finger on a phone or tablet, but they kind of stopped supporting the switch version with new updates only available to mobile OS. It is a fun little game to kill a few minutes.

I tried Elder Scrolls: Castles when it came out but it didn’t click with me.
