One of his points is that a vhs player is easily fixable while a wifi router isn’t. These things aren’t even remotely the same. They don’t serve the same function, they don’t have the same complexity. Comparing their repairability makes no sense because they serve different functions. Just because I know how to repair a keyboard doesn’t mean I know how to fix a tv.

Most of his complaints are on the capitalization of modern technology, which is not a problem of innovation and knowledge, it’s an economics and political problem.

Also, for context, I do not condone any of the harm sent his way. I think what he’s done is pretty scummy, but he and his team doesn’t deserve being sent death threats and swatted

Unpopular take is a bit of an understatement. He called the entire movement shit and trashtalked it instead of just disagreeing. He also, after all the responses, doubled down and said he hopes “the movement gets want it wants, but not what it needs.”

Just saying, military related contracts are some of the most wasteful contracts that overpay private companies by however much money they want

Oh hey I ran into that issue, fixed it by blocking the element on ublock and spoofing my user agent
