  • I just wish there were a way to preserve these records in a format with enough longevity to survive until the next sapient species evolves after we destroy ourselves and the human habitability of the planet for a couple million years.

They could use the warning against indulging greed and willful ignorance, and we deserve to have others laughing at our species’ expense through time. We inherited paradise just to set it on fire eyes wide open. It’s an extremely low bar, but I hope the next global apex predator chooses to do better.

  • It got us to the moon.

Then we decided to sell off our society for private profit under the lie that we’d all benefit.

Biggest reason this country has gotten this cartoonishly shitty, why our commons like bridges are literally collapsing.

Public research was slower and more considered, as it didn’t have the very unscientific sole goal of “how do we monetize this half-baked discovery NOW?!” with no other consideration let alone to societal consequences, but publically funded research yielded social benefits we all reaped through the commons. Reckless growth/metastasis for private profit is giving us technologies that make us miserable and that only truly benefit private shareholders at our expense. Plus you know, the whole reverse terraforming our only world against us, again for short term private profit.

  • We’ll never get over our worship of them, because it is engineered.

The media machines they own, including every market news site, fills every stream with deceptive articles of the 8 things billionaires do that made them rich and the 7 the plebs do that stop them from being billionaires, constantly defying them while shaming you for not being like or serving them better.

The natural state for any society where the elites live large while the masses struggle to survive is to DESPISE the elites, whether violent recourse would be suicide or not.

The love/deification for our elites by many of those they oppress is part of their engineered propaganda to keep it that way with their bully pulpit artificially, and that pulpit is more than loud enough to drown out and ruin the credibility of any prominent voices of reason. Easier for them to maintain the market capitalist machine like this than through overt slavery, they just convince the masses it’s in their interests to self-enslave.

  • This guy was a gleefully inhuman monster who hurt people for fun decades before he was even President.

Just as with Ronald Reagan, some people just do so much harm to others unrepentantly for fun and profit, that I can very much revel in their pain/decline/confusion and sleep like a baby.

I don’t subscribe to the pure model of “treat others as you would have them treat you.” Humans abuse that and it makes you a mark.

My version is “In a vacuum, be kind, but once someone shows you who they are, treat others how they treat others.”

  • If a poor American with no resources condemns our rigged, crony market capitalist economy, “they should stop complaining because they’re just bitter.”

If a rich American with resources condemns our rigged, crony market capitalist economy, “they should stop complaining or they’re a hypocrite.”

Our oligarchs like the casino they’ve made just fine. Either compliment their work or you’re “free” to shut the hell up and get back to making them money. Of course this will be used against Walz for being a bad capitalist. As if how hard one capitalisms(exploits others) should be celebrated.

It just speaks to our backwards, inhuman, literally cancerous primary cultural value of greed first and only.

To be fair, there’s a lot of GREAT shows that needed a few episodes to a season to really find themselves.

Rick and Morty took half a season, Supernatural was a slog for over a season until it started leaning into having fun instead of just brooding, the Doctor Who Reboot’s production values are distracting for the first season, on and on.

Honestly, the best shows seem to need to go on a bit of a vision quest early on.
