      I think we could cut the budget in half by just asking questions about spending. “Where is this going, why, and how does that benefit the tax payer?” I’d like to hear that explanation when we get to the Israel list item.

        Years ago I was in a Carl’s Jr and some guy was on the phone talking and gloating about how he charged 100 bucks per screw that he got from home Depot for his government contract… I don’t know why I always remember that but I always have thought about how fucked it was and how there must be so many more people doing the same shit.

          Half of me can’t blame them. They’re not a millionaire. And, that gig probably wasn’t forever. Take it when you can get it.

          But, when there are so many people doing it because of a lack of oversight, that becomes a huge problem.

            I mean, money stolen from the public purse is money stolen from the public. There’s reason to be unhappy about it.

          When I worked in the federal govt I was horrified by how much contractors charged for everything. And the govies didn’t even bat an eye at paying for it; it was like they just expected things to cost 50-100x market cost and didnt argue with any of them.
