The race between climate change and the fossil fuel phaseout is growing more, well, heated. Without substantial policy intervention, the planet is on track to surpass a catastrophic temperature threshold within the next decade, the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change forecasts. I have to hope human ingenuity and an instinct for self-preservation will help us make our deadline.

“Betteridge’s law of headlines” states that any news headline formed as a question can be answered in the negative.

So: will we turn away from fossil fuels in time? No.

    lol @ “in time”

In time for what? Will we turn away in time to still make tons of money extracting and burning fossil fuels?

You betcha. We’re right on time for that.

Will we turn away from them in time? Yes.

Either we all die off from using them more and more until we roast the planet, or we keep using until we run the planet dry of them and still roast. Either way the industrial revolution was a mistake.
