We’ve had to remove a lot of self, blog, video posts lately and @laverabe @laverabe@lemmy.world approached me and said “Hey, how about I make a community for those kinds of posts?” and I was like “This is lemmy, you don’t have to ask me!”
But I personally think it’s a good idea!
They’re currently modding it all by themselves so go easy on them!
The new community is just called “Politic” which can be a little hard to search, but the more descriptive name is “Political Discussion and Commentary”.
Political Discussion and Commentary
"A place to discuss US politics and commentary. Self posts are preferred, but links to current events and news are allowed. No self promotion.
The intent is for this community to be an area for open & respectful discussion on current political issues, news & events.
Rule 1: civility, no insults or personal attacks
Up/downvote based on contribution to discussion not whether you agree/disagree."
Hey, a while back I created !askpolitics@lemmy.world for questions like “How do I register to vote in Kansas?” or “What is the difference between a primary and a caucus?”
Unfortunately, it’s kind of dead. I’ll bet links from here would liven it up. Interested?
I’m down! I’ll put it in the sidebar!

I don’t understand why I can’t just ask a question. I don’t have an article in mind. I’m just trying to understand a topic.
Because a lot of the times “I’m just asking questions” is a form of trolling called Sea Lioning.

Oy! The mods are gonna be busy. I don’t envy them at all!
