This sentiment would make much more sense if cops weren’t regularly killing people who comply as well.
Cops aren’t hurting people to protect themselves or others. They’re hurting people because they want to hurt people. “Resistance” is an excuse, not a reason.
For me, it’s on a case by case basis. True, you do have some sociopathic cops out there who just enjoy harassing and assaulting people, and they need to be put in prison. But you also have cops that are just trying to do their jobs and have to deal with some unreasonable and violent members of the population. They deserve the right to protect themselves and the public.
Your suggestion that all cops use violence because they want to hurt people just demonstrates prejudice on your part, and is good grounds for me to dismiss your opinion completely.

Not a single one of whom will stop their colleagues who ARE hurting people for sport. None of them speak out. At a certain point, the good guys become complicit too.
