Ar eyou saying Proton’s CEO is a Nazi? Far as I can tell he isn’t
Edit: your message is confusing which is why I ask
I understand the concern but it’s not like the CEO is sieg heiling… He is stating how things used to be and his hope that Trump will continue that trend. He posted 4th of December which was far before Trump got all his big tech chronies to sit Infront of US allies at his inauguration
Tbh I think proton is solid. What the CEO said is just stating a fact of the situation 10 years ago and linking it to now. I don’t believe that’s right but he posted the message 4th of December which (if I’m not mistaken) was before it was clear all the tech CEOs were sucking his dick like we saw around his in inauguration.
I’d still recommend it, the other stuff the CEO says on twitter is all very logical and positive for privacy and against big tech. Unfortunately someone says something that is remotely questionable (not like this guy has outright praised Trump far as I can tell) and sudetly Proton is a dead service not considering all the good they have done and will (probably) continue to do
4x multi-framegen is just like 4x leveraging your position
Tried to walk there through my phone. It didn’t work either and think I broke my nose
No tolerance however ends up at the same point.
It’s not like we know this person has Nazi tattoos or even what their views are. Maybe they literally just asked a question. If they do have Nazi tattoos, they can fuck off. If they think anyone who doesn’t identify as strait is a bad person, they can fuck off. If they believe the q-anon conspiracys without question, they can fuck off.
But untill we talk to someone (assuming they are not visibly showing their extreme views like in your bar tender example) it literally doesn’t make sense to judge people based on the information OP has provided. If more information comes out, I am open to changing my opinion, but for now I think you are being intolerant of people joining this platform simply because they ask for something that is not as left wing.
I think your core message is completely true. But imho, probably this is what op is talking about with people yelling at their friend. Taking such a forceful stance will push those that are unsure away which is the exact opposite of what we need.
With that said, the fact that you just assumed their stance on politics from a generalised complaint of ‘my friend got yelled at’ is completely unfounded, unfair, and definitely will push away anyone who would consider themselves moderates. Baseless clames is literally how trump became elected and that’s not a good foundation for someone to get elected on
Very true, we need everyone to be open minded. Both those on the platform but also those coming in. I hope the comunity can keep the discourse constructive. Hope you can enjoy the platform!
I think it’s unfair to just assume they are far right cause they are American. Right wing? Sure. More likely to be far right? Also sure. This doesn’t mean we should not welcome them and then try to show them that their specific view points are unfounded (or maybe ours are, there’s the point of discussion). Not just assume they are Nazis when they just ask why people here seem different to them
Thanks for the explanation! Makes sense why people don’t like it now
Unfortunately thats the problem with the world atm. No one cares for the facts, just what ever fits their narrative
Tbh, I don’t think I agree. The only times I feel they can’t really be impartial “even if they say they are” is when they use a sponsors parts to build something. Or otherwise the whole video is sponsored but they kinda are reviewing the fevice. I don’t really like those videos but they are very clear about the fact that it is sponsored so viewers can at least down some salt whilst they watch the video. They also do state some issues they have with the products when they arise which is good (though obviously they may not say everything that’s wrong with it)
All these things listed are blunders (some quite big ones) but I think the person who responded to that comment with the opposing view makes a lot of sense. They added the nuance to the situation that the comment you linked to I think glasses over since they obviously don’t like Linus. Personally their (the response comments) take is where I stand on these issues too.
Obvious, as LTT has grown they have made mistakes but they have always explained their reasoning or otherwise apologised and tried to make things right.
Overall I think they are a force for good in the world. They teach millions about tech, how to use it, and how you can save money. As they become more corporate their passion may fade but I think it’s still there and I’ll probably keep watching their stuff for the time being
I see this a lot but I always wonder why is it bad? Didn’t seem that bad when I tried it
I’m definitely gonna come back to this when I try Linux again sometime this year when I have a moment to mess around!
Probably a dumb question but why is Ubuntu bad?
Tbh I found steam os alright mostly cause devs making stuff for it have put work into making things GUI based. That being said, I did try install some other stuff to see what I could do and it got confusing so maybe cause I only game on it it’s fine 😅.
I have used windows for all my life but the main reason I want to try switch to Linux is cause windows has gone to shit. Literally one of the 3 largest companies in the world can’t make a file explorer that actually works correctly. Plus MS pushing their own services hard is just so annoying.
The work load stuff they seem to have improved (from what I can tell) but the result of the sexual harassment investigation they had been carried out is unknown to the public as far as I know (I assume by now it’s concluded). Not sure we’ll ever know what really happened cause that sort of info probably won’t become public.
Given there are other women what continue to work there (I implore them to speak up if they feel the same) hopefully it was just an isolated incident and whoever was responsible was fired.
I watched his videos on Linux and tried using Ubuntu myself a little while back and tbh I kinda had a similar experience to him.
Being asked to restart fairly often and finding it difficult to instal more niche things with command line even if I could just copy paste stuff. I like the lack of Microsoft bullshit but the programs I used for uni and games weren’t compatible at the time.
That being said I tried about a year before steam deck became a thing and I got that a year+ ago and haven’t had too many issues like that (still some though). Looking forward to general steamos release cause I definitely want to try again
I mostly agree, I think it’s good for individuals and small businesses who just need some free copyright-free (though arguably this is debatable) graphics for things. It’s not like the have the time/money to do it all themselves or get it commissioned.
But I don’t like it when >=medium businesses use it to cut costs or when it’s used for something that is directly meant to make money (like an advert or the core of a piece of content your consuming)
